This will be a pinned topic, so that we can post info about bad products we have come across, and in doing, save our fellow players a little cash.

format should be as follows

Type of product (such as paintball, barrel, etc)

Name and model (such as billy bobs sure fire bolt)

BRIEF reason why you advise against using product.

Remember to keep it short and sweet, the idea here is to have a list that people can skim over.

Remember to read other posts BEFORE making your post, duplicate entries will be deleted.

Do not clutter this thread, posts should be EXACTLY as outlined above, any posts that don't follow the guideline will be deleted and the USER WARNED

Paintballs

Kick'n- "premium shell" superman fill

superman is an appropriate name for these as they seem to be made of steel. Super thick shells hardly ever break. Strongly advise against using these for anything other than simple target practice.

Grenades

Tippmann - Squadbuster

As much as I love Tippmann... I really have not been impressed with their Squadbuster grenades. They do work on OCCASION, but you never know when you're going to throw one if someone is going to pick it up and throw it back.

Stocks

Tapco - any

Well they're good for the money, but the fit is poor, and they appear to crack easily. I'm not saying don't buy one, just that if you have the extra money to spend on a better quality one, by all means do it. I'm using a Tapco CAR stock on my gun right now and its holding up well, but I've heard and seen other ones that have broken down after a few rough games.

Paintballs

PMI (I think) - Stinger

With this type of thing you get what you pay for. They are cheap, and you can tell when you shoot them. The only thing they are good for is coating an entire bunker with paint. To do so, all you have to do is point your gun in one spot and they will fly around enough to coat it.

Camo

True Spec - BDU's

For the money I guess they aren't half bad, but they are cheaply made and the rip stop doesn't do its job as well as it should (you can ask Mike - HAS Lead - about this). They also fade more quickly than standard issue BDU's.

Most of you should know this, but STAY AWAY from ANY paint sold at Wal-Mart, Dicks, Sports Authority, etc.. Paint should only be purchased from your local pro-shop or field. Large companies such as the ones stated above stock pile their paint and it might have been sitting on the shelves for a year before its sold.

Throat Mic

Radio Shack

Like to slip off your neck when you get a little sweaty. Poor audio pick-up from microphone eliminates ability to whisper, bulky design impractical for paintball.

yes bad times with squadbusters.

Halo TSA Hopper

This was the first hopper I had and I used it 2 times and both times the board had managed to break. I wasnt the only person to experience this, so if you are thinking about getting one of these, make sure there is a warranty on it.

PAINTBALLS

Nightmare (who makes it I don't Know?)

Every 5 to 10 shots I would break a ball and I was shooting 255 FPS.
Now this might because they where old I don't know, I don't think they where old paintballs.

I must disagree with broadsword on the Scorch pballs. Thats what ive been using forever and they work for me. However I dont have a flatline barrel so that might be it.

Paintball Gun

BT-16

Do not get one of these guns. I got one and it sucks. I got the tactical one with the barrel and all but it is no good. It is very heavy and does not come with the gas line. You have to plug the tank directly into the gun making it even heavier. The hopper is at the top so you cant add a scope or red dot sight to it.

Paintballs

The JT woodsball paintballs that you can purchase at wal mart. They are to soft and do not shoot straight. I used my Tippmann werks barrel and my 32 degrees night stick and got the same result. Eventually I tried to do a circle motion with my gun trying to get one to fly straight but it didnt work.

Monster Balls

They just dont come out of clothes very easily. So I guess if you are playing someone you really dont like then use them but other than that dont. Oh yeah they smell aweful!

Magazine

Those of you who like your gun to look real do not buy the AK47 magazine from opsgear. It does not tighten. I have had to replace the bolts twice so far. Right now it has gaff tape around it. Gaff Tape is used in the theatre. It is extremely sticky, it will tear skin seriously. So do not buy this product.

Walkie Talkies

Avoid anything from Audiovox. I got mine from Wal Mart and when you turn both them on they constantly make this loud beep noise that can be heard a mile away. The only way to stop it is to turn them off and back on again.

Radios

Midland G-300

Well they work. If barely. The VOX feature on them is EXTREMLY slow to react and the PTT buttons are all screwed up. There are a bunch of other minor problems with them too. I'm bringing them to D-Day just as back-ups for the new pair I bought, but I would suggest everyone stear clear of these radios.

Barrel

Taso winforce 14"

It didnt matter what paint i tried to use in it, the paint always got stuck in it. VERY small bore, so i dont advise getting one, unless you use some very small paintballs.

Mask and Lense

Raven - NVX

While the mask itself is very comfortable, the lenses are prone to fogging very quickly and finding replacement lenses can be difficult, so far I think ActionVillage is the only place that sells replacement lenses.

Paintball pistol

RAP4 t68 pistol

They are terrible about chopping paint, they are oil hogs, and the CO2 cartridges routinely get stuck, requiring a tool to swap out. Straight POS.
